I built this site as a way of publishing my experience of disability. I’m also using to promote disability equality training.
I previously devised, developed and ran a disability website (Disability Advice). The site was very complex and designed to publish user generated content. Unfortunately it wasn’t used the way it was intended. However it helped people get support they needed. I found it difficult to maintain and handle all the demands it placed on me. In 2018 I decided to transfer control to a local disability organisation. I hoped that they could better cope with the stress and workload the site demanded.
It has now been over a year since I transferred my old disability site. I still want to provide disability tips and information to both disabled and non-disabled people. So I decided to make this site for all my disability related content.
I have made my main site (andyhat.co.uk) focused on general training and IT related content. To keep the sites focused I decided to make this site instead of adding a disability section to my other website.
